12 BAR BLUES ~ to “Read, Think and Respond” Question.

1st 4 Bars = State the Topic Question

2nd 4 Bars = Restate the Topic

Last 4 Bars = the Response / the “Because” answer to the Topic Question.

A-A-B-A ~ Narrative Essay Form. As taught by JazzSLAM, both tell a 4 paragraph story.

“Who, What, Where, When, Why”, which builds to a dramatic climax/where a big problem occurs in the 3rd paragraph, then wraps the story up in the 4th paragraph.

Ex. The JazzSLAM Themesong is an example A-A-B-A song form. It is written to “I Got Rhythm”, the most typical A-A-B-A chord changes.
Verse-Chorus Song Form ~ Explanatory and Opinion Essay Forms.

In Explanatory:

• 1st paragraph = State the Topic,
• 2nd paragraph states your 1st Example
• 3rd paragraph states your 2nd Example
• Last paragraph = restate the Topic.

In Persuasive:

• 1st paragraph, state = your Opinion
• 2nd paragraph states your 1st Reason
• 3rd paragraph states your 2nd Reason
• Last paragraph = restate your Opinion.
